Frequently Asked Questions
You have questions about painting and our services, no problem! We have answers!
How much does it cost to paint the outside of a house?
There are many factors that affect the cost of a painting job. The size and material of your house are two of the biggest factors. To give you the most accurate quote for your exterior painting job, the On The Spot team will have one of their professional paint contractors come to your home and review all of the details and options available for your exterior home painting project.
Can I use interior paint on the exterior?
We do not recommend using interior paint on outdoor surfaces. Although interior and exterior paints look the same, exterior paint has properties that help it fight weather conditions. Interior paint simply doesn’t provide the right level of protection needed for outdoor surfaces. We want to ensure you receive the best quality paint for your job, so our team of experts will always recommend the best-suited product for your home paint project.
What is the difference between interior and exterior paint?
The paint has different properties in the formula. Interior paint is made to withstand scrubbing, staining, and allow cleaning with basic household items such as clothes. Exterior paint is made to withstand fading and mildew as well as other weather elements.
Is it ok to paint outside in the cold weather?
Living in Alberta, this is a very valid question! This typically depends on the type and brand of paint you buy. If the surface is too cold, it can result in staining or mildew problems on your exterior. For all exterior paint jobs, our team of experts will assess the current temperature and weather conditions to advise on the best time of year to complete your exterior home painting.
What is the best time of year to paint the outside of my house?
Early summer or early fall is typically the most ideal time to paint your house. This is because there are minimal rain and fluctuations in temperatures from night into day.
What materials can you paint on the outside of a home?
We can paint on a wide variety of surfaces on the outside of a home. This includes wood siding, composite, stucco, vinyl, aluminum, brick, cedar shingles, and more. We also offer exterior door, deck, fence, and railing painting.
